Are you looking for some birthday gift ideas? Is your dog’s birthday coming up? If so, you’ve come to the right place! Capri just turned 3 on May 28th, and I never thought I’d be celebrating a dog’s birthday or even writing a blog post about dogs.
If you are following my journey, you know I haven’t always loved dogs. But people change, and I am now a proud dog owner. From fear of dogs to proud dog owner, Capri has changed my life in countless ways. I tell people, “I have a heart now” because she has brought out a softer side of me. I never knew I could love a dog so much. Having never grown up with animals, owning a dog was something I honestly never thought I’d do.
You might be asking why I got a dog if I didn’t like them. It’s a great question! Check out my post on why Goldendoodles make the perfect pet to learn why Goldendoodles are the only dog breed I would ever consider owning.
Now, lets get to the celebration of Capri’s 3rd birthday and give you some great birthday gift ideas!
Best Birthday Gift Ideas For Dogs
Capri is a spoiled girl, and I always stock up on toys whenever I find them on sale. From squeaky toys to interactive puzzles, she has quite the collection. Keep reading to see everything I got Capri for her birthday, including some of new surprises to help keep her cool this summer!
Bob-A-Lot Enrichment Toy
The first birthday gift idea I am sharing is the Bob- A Lot enrichment toy. I always feed Capri using an enrichment puzzle or a DIY enrichment activity. I’ve done this since she was a puppy. Not only does it keep her entertained for a long time, but it also provides great mental stimulation.

When it comes to the Bob-A-Lot toy, there are two sizes available. I initially got Capri the smaller size, but I wish I had ordered the larger one as it holds more food. The smaller version holds about 1/2 cup of food. When I use this one, I often have leftover food and use another enrichment puzzle feeder or DIY activity for the remaining portion.
One feature I love about this toy is that you can control the difficulty level of the food release. There are two adjustable slots that you can open or close to make it more challenging or easier for the food to come out. Since Capri’s food is on the larger side, I keep both slots open. Her food fits through the holes, but she definitely needs to work harder for it, which is perfect! Additionally, it works better on hardwood floors than carpet as it moves faster and wobbles more.
Outdoor Dog Water Fountain– Fun and Active Way To Keep Your Dog Busy!
Capri and I spend a lot of time outside during the summer months, and I’m always concerned about her not drinking enough water. To address this, I got her an outdoor water fountain. She was a bit scared of it at first, and we’re still working on getting her to understand that she needs to step on it for the water to come out. If I push it, she’ll drink from it, so we have some additional training to do.

If you read the reviews on Amazon, some people mention that the water pressure is too strong. You can easily fix this by adjusting your hose faucet. I only opened mine a little to ensure the pressure isn’t too strong. I have no complaints about this product at all. If you want your dog to drink more water or play in it, this is a great gift idea for your dogs birthday or for any occasion.

Dog Cooling Mat Is the Perfect Gift Idea For Summer
Another great birthday gift idea to keep your dog cool this summer is a self-cooling mat. This mat works without water, electricity, or refrigeration, making it an way to ensure your dog stays comfortable in the heat.

To help Capri get used to the cooling mat, I started by placing it on the floor and lying next to it. I placed some treats on the mat to encourage her to step on it. Gradually, she began to lay on it, and I rewarded her with treats each time she did. This process is still ongoing, but she’s making progress. So far, we’ve practiced mostly indoors, and I hope that once she’s comfortable using it inside, she’ll understand to use it outside as well.
I ordered Capri a size medium cooling mat, which is suitable for dogs between 21-45 pounds. Capri weighs around 32 pounds, so this gives you an idea of the sizing.
I tested the mat myself by placing my arm on it, and I can confirm it definitely has a cooling effect. It’s a great solution for keeping your dog cool and comfortable during the summer months!
ChuckIt! Fetch Stick– Great Gift to Keep Your Dog Active!

The last birthday gift idea I have to share is the Chuckit! Fetch Stick. This was an extra item for Capri because it was on sale. Whenever I see dog items on a big discount, I buy them and save them for later! I love Chuckit! products and own a few different toys. Our favorite is the Chuckit! Ball Launcher and balls.
Dog Birthday Celebration Ideas? Here is How We Celebrated Capri’s Birthday
First, we headed to the dog park for some mental and physical stimulation, allowing Capri to sniff around and play with other dogs. Benefits of taking your dog to the dog park and learn how I gear up for the dog park.

Then, we made a stop to grab some coffee and a pup cup to continue the celebration! I highly suggest getting a seat protector to protect your seats from dirt, muddy paws and spills from the pup cup.

After the pup cup, we opened gifts and enjoyed the nice weather outside, topped off with a special dog cupcake.

Later, we took a walk around the neighborhood and relaxed on the porch to ensure she had the best day possible. Leashes and Harnesses Tried and Tested
